Agilos helps Sodexo Luxembourg gain useful business insights in Qlik Cloud

Case Study

About the customer – Sodexo Luxembourg

Sodexo Luxembourg provides catering, facilities management, employee benefits and personal home services and is an entity of the Sodexo Group, on its turn serving 100 million consumers daily in 56 countries. Sodexo Luxembourg has a presence of over 42 years in Luxembourg with a turnover of around 136 M€ and 2.200 employees.

Background

In 2017, Sodexo Luxembourg decided to improve business performance by providing insights to the business and get rid of the Excel nightmare, which appeared to be hard to maintain and update on a regular basis. They started looking for a reliable partner that could help them solve these issues, and chose Agilos to do so.

After careful consideration of the different software tools on the market, Sodexo Luxembourg chose Qlik Sense as Data Insight tool, because it suited their challenges the most:

  • Data transformation and standardization happen directly within Qlik Sense, which allows not having to create a database

  • Data exploration made easy through a catalog of # 10K products

  • Reliability on a partner such as Agilos with extensive experience with Qlik Sense

The project

The first focus of the project back in 2017 was to improve the Sales analysis. With data coming from different data sources (cashier systems, payroll) and not easily to be brought together, Agilos helped the group with a correct mapping of the data. After standardizing the data, different dashboards were made in Qlik Sense to follow up on peak hours, sales per hour, and many more. In a later stage, a drill-down was added to be able to analyze all the information until transaction level (product type, product subtype, …) and the scope was broadened to HR analysis (e.g. reports for absenteeism, overtime, …).

The challenge

“One of the biggest challenge that we encountered with this project was to get all the stakeholders on board.” explains Luc De Buck, CFO at Sodexo Luxembourg. “Even with the nicest dashboards and the most modern functions, our biggest aim was to make the data live within the organization so that it could really be used to take the appropriate actions. Agilos helped us with this challenge and organized different workshops to get to know the real pains of the business users and guide them in the use of the application itself.”

This so-called user adoption was also one of the reasons Sodexo Luxembourg chose to migrate to Qlik Cloud in 2022.

Migrating to Qlik Cloud

Agilos was asked to help the group in migrating to Qlik Cloud. The technical migration was performed in only 2 days and the group was again up & running with the newest functionality in the cloud! Moreover, Agilos provided workshops to formally train the business users and make sure they got the most out of the application.

“What we liked about the workshops, is that Agilos really invested in getting to know the real needs of our business users. The consultants are experienced and brought some useful insight to our business. This results in a solution that is now used as main support during our sales meetings.” Luc De Buck explains.

The results

Migrating to Qlik Cloud allowed Sodexo Luxembourg to shut down the yearly infrastructure cost with € 13.000. Next to that, the group also encounters benefits on security & compliance level (no need of a VPN, SSO with Microsoft account, Mobile App and easy access to user rights).

The group also takes advantage of the latest functionalities in the tool, such as alerting, on-demand visuals generations, notes, comments and tags. Static reports are automatically sent out and the integration with Microsoft Teams makes sure that it is easy for the team to access all the information.

Agilos as a partner

“Agilos has the ability to add real value for the customers: they have extensive technical competency, a deep understanding of the business and are capable of challenging the needs and requests of the business. And that’s key in getting the right Data Insights for our business!”, Luc De Buck concludes.
